How soon will you adopt again

I was wanting to see how soon everyone adopted a second or third, or who is adopting and how soon will it be?

We finished our adoption of our 3yo last Fall. We stepped off the plane on Oct. 15th. We started back up officially in February and scrambled to get our paperwork back in order.

In our case, we had wanted to adopt two, went through a two-year oddysey to adopt from El Salvador and felt like if we didn't do it again right away, we'd never want to go back.

In answer to how soon will we start up again after this. The answer is unless God works a total miracle in our hearts, NEVER. We are very happy to be almost done with the paperwork and waiting!

I think 3 - 5 years (or more) ...

and it may not be from Guatemala.

My husband has expressed an interest in adopting a waiting child from state foster care... that would have to be quite a few years in the future, as I would want it to be a child younger than the one(s) we have at home.

However, we may go back and adopt in just a few years if it "feels" like the right time and the finances make sense. We need a bigger house to adopt another child, anyway, I feel, so that, in itself, adds a "time" factor.

We will be adopting again in the near future. Maybe 2-3 years or sooner if the time seems right. We would love to adopt a baby girl from Guatemala if the program is still running smoothly. We have been drawn to China for a girl ,but we don't want to wait until we are both 30 to adopt again. So we may adopt again in a couple of years for "either" boy or girl and then adopt in 5+ years from China.

I'm ready to start right now and we don't have our first adoption home yet. My DH looked at me and said so sweetly, "Whatever you want baby, but....I don't think I can do it right now" "Can we wait a little while?". He's so sweet!

I am dying inside to adopt a 3rd (a boy this time), but DH thinks we are complete, just the way we are. But you never know.

Wishing and hoping to be in process again soon

We brought our first daughter home at 3 1/2 years old in December 2003. DH has three grown kids and although they love our daughter I knew they wouldn't have the sibling bond with her that they had with each other. We really wanted our daghter to have a sibling especially since we weren't "spring chickens" (mid and late forties). We started the process again in June of 2004, accepted a referral of a 1 1/2 MONTH old, believe it or not, October 2004 and brought our precious Mayana home April 1st 2005 at the age of 7 months. The girls ADORE each other and we are so glad we took the plunge!

We haven't have our referral yet, and we are thinking that as soon as we finish with our first adoption and receive the tax credit our paperwork is going to be ready to start again! This time for a baby boy!

Well, as you can see by our timeline below...we brought Marissa home from Guatemala last September and are now in the process of adopting from China!

Hopefully, our new daughter will be home early next summer, so there will be almost 2 years between our adoptions...even though we started the process for this one less than 1 year after the first! The wait for China can be a little longer...

Isn't adoption WONDERFUL??????

We began our second adoption after our dd was home 6 months. Agency requires a minimum of one year between placements, unless sibs ... and I LIKE that! This time we will probably begin this winter ... but we need a larger house, better schools, AND A bigger car, too. UGH. If there is one thing I can dread more than the next paperchase, it has got to be buying a house and MOVING ... Oh well!

Hoping to have Delaney home at the end of August and seriously contemplating another referral right now! If so, they will be 9 months apart (almost!). My last bio and Delaney are only 11 months apart. I like them close together. They're so cute playing!

We brought our little girl home in October 2004 and my husband says we must start in November. I have been putting it off as I am enjoying so much my time with Emma but I also want her to have a sibling and also to have her close in age is important. So we will be off and running in November!!
