New requirement for PGN

Maybe I'm telling you something you already knew but I just received this from my agency.

"PGN is now requiring that all USCIS approval letters (171H) be authenticated by the Guatemalan Consulate. We have already authenticated the 171H for each of our cases presently in progress, and will do so for all future cases. These documents were delivered to our attorneys in Guatemala earlier this week, for submission to PGN with their respective dossiers."

Maybe this is only for cases entering PGN currently? My little boy's case just exited PGN last week and I never did this.

I am stressing a little though because it may affect my daughter's case.

<<heavy sigh>> It seems we can never anticipate PGN.

We exited today and did not do this. Our agency (which is always on top of things) hasn't heard anything about it, either.

It also really doesn't make sense because they already receive a copy of the preapproval notice which is what tells them that the US embassy intends to issue a visa for the child to enter the US once the adoption is complete. The I171H is merely a document that the embassy requires as part of the preapproval process. It shouldn't have anything to do with PGN.

Of course, not everything always makes sense in this process. My advice would be: if your agency says to do it, do it. If they don't, don't worry too much at this time.

Unhappy PGN Requirements

Our agency called me last week and told me that had to have the I-171H State and Consulate Sealed ASAP. Our paperwork has been in PGN since 4/11 w/out pre-approval which we are waiting on.

Unfortunately, our I-171H expired on 7/14/05 so three weeks go I had to go thru the whole process again. It should be arriving any day and I have to run it around town and send it to the Consulate in Miami.

2/4 Rcvd our daughter referral
2/27 FC
4/11 PGN w/out pre-approval
5/27 DNA testing
6/2 Embassy received DNA results - 99.98% match
Still waiting on pre-approval.......http://forums.adoption.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

We are currently in PGN - didn't do it, and our agency hasn't said anything about it. Keeping fingers crossed it doesn't cause a KO.

Very unhappy with my agency due to lack of communication, long process, contract restrictions, and many other reasons. Ask me if you'd like to avoid them.
