After the birthmother signs off, the attorney requests the new birth certifcate which could take anywhere from a day to a month or more. After the attorney has the new birth certificate, all of the documents that need to be submitted to the Embassy to get Pink need to be translated and then submitted to the Embassy, as well as getting the child's passport. The attorney can submit the documents requesting Pink Monday - Thursday. They can then return 48 hours later (not including Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or holidays) to either get the Pink slip or the request for additional documents.
I guess theoretically if the birth certificate is coming from from an area it can be received in one day, and you have a really speedy attorney, you can have Pink in a week or week and a half. (Have to account for fridays and weekends being "lost" days.) If you have a Guatemala City birth certificate, and an average attorney, you are probably looking at a month or more. I think someone is posting a waiting for Pink list that could give you an idea of "average" waits. www.guatadopt.com has a good explanation of the entire process as well as the US Embassy website. Here is the link to the Embassy site. http://travel.state.gov/family/adopt...untry_389.html
