question about height

Sydney turned 18 months last Fri. and at her doctor visit she was measured to be 31 3/4 inches. Is that really small or average? Do any of you have any idea what that might be on a Guatemalan growth chart? Syd's birth mom was really short I am only 5'2 and she was much smaller than that....so I am just wondering.

Thanks ya'll

Daniel was 31 inches at 18 months, and 33.5 inches at 24 months.

Lauren is going for her 18 month checkup this afternoon, so I can give you another point of reference then. I think she was about 28.5 inches at her 15 month checkup.

Miguel is about 31 inches at 1 but he is taller than the average guatemalan children I have seen. I have a friend who adopted a little girl from Guatemala and at 18 months she is 31 inches. Sounds like that is a "standard" height for a majority of the children. Also if her birthmother is of that height she will probably be small in stature, but remember with the diet she receives here she will probably be taller than her birthmother.

27 inches

Hi my daughter is 6 months and is 27 inches tall already. The dr said she is tall for her age. I couldnt believe it because I thought all babies from Guatemala were small. Mindy

Lauren was 30 inches at her 18 month appointment today, so still on the petite side. Though she has gone from the 9th percentile to the 15th precentile in height since she came home. (And from the 3rd to the 25th percentile in weight! )

Juliet was 31.5 inches at 12 months which put her between the 75-90 percent. I know she is taller than other children her age.

I don't know about Guatemalan growth charts in particular but my sons are Colombian and very tall. My 2-year-old was 37.25 inches at his 18 month checkup (99 percentile for height). He was born at 22 inches so he got a head start. He was 30 inches by 9 months and 33 inches at 12 months.

I think you have a petite little girl. Nutrition is a big factor, though. She may have growth spurts later on.

Hi, our Lucy is eighteen months old and she is very petite as well. She weighs 19lbs and is only 28.5" tall. Like your baby, her birthmother is several inches shorter than my 5'3" so I am sure that factors in there.
God Bless,
Jenny
