Can anyone please tell me of any agencies that place slightly older children in Guatemala? I brought my 10 /2 month old son home from Guatemala in December and am looking into possibly adopting a child between 2 and 5 for my 2nd adoption. Most of the information I have seen is for infant adoption. The agency I used for my little man only does infant adoptions.
Please PM me with any information. I appreciate it! I would also love to hear from others who have adopted older children. Thanks!

We adopted a 3 1/2 year old, lots of agencies place older children. Have you looked on the Waiting Children Websites?

My daughter was 5 at referral and came home just after her 6th birthday. She has now been home almost 9 months and she is an absolute joy. Adopting an older child has been one of the most rewarding things of my lifetime. She is now at a point where she is able to communicate more of her life in Guatemala as well as her feelings while she was waiting to come home and her reactions upon first meeting us. There are still times that I think about all that I missed in her life, but there are still so many more firsts to be had!

I agree that older child adoption is great! Our boys both came home at the age of four, two years apart. We didn't consider them "older children", since we knew there were children as old as 13 in the same orphanage. We traveled in Feb to bring home our ten yr old daughter. There is a difference this time...we would consider her "older". Things have gone very well, with some "issues" because of her age. Nothing big or unexpected. It just keeps us on our toes, thinking more and more about our parenting these days, being more deliberate about choices to help her and our young boys. We have four other daughters (one US adoption) up to grad school age. "2nd Wave" is keeping us young and hoppin'. One reason besides our age that we chose older children...these are the kids who are aware of wanting and needing a family. How could we say no to that!
