travel advise
How safe is travel in Guatemala? I was wondering if we should worry about leaving items in our room. We are staying at the Westin and we will not be able to take our son off the hotel grounds. I have read something about wearing something around your neck to keep your money and important papers. I am sure that we will not be away from the room much.

Hi
When I stayed at the Westin I would put my passport copy (always make a copy of your passport and credit card numbers and leave it in a safe place at home) video camera etc..under the corner of the bed..I would carry my money, passport, credit card etc..in my pocket..I did leave the grounds as our agency ok'd it..but do whatever your agency wants.. One reason I really liked the Holiday Inn was because they had in room safes where you used your own combination.. I felt safe at the Westin and you needed to put your roomcard in the elevator to get it to work..so not just anyone could go in there...you will have fun there..the room service meals seemed to be much better to me than the ones in the restaruant..but the breakfast buffet is really good..the pool is very nice also.. Have a great time..
