Today is Ana's Readoption Day
Hi
We went to the courthouse this morning for Ana's readoption ceremony! My sisters were both there..it was so cute..the judge gave Ana a teddy bear and had her sit on his lap. He is the same judge who did our sons US adoption back in 1992..he had retired but still comes in just to do adoption ceremonies. Unfortunately..I left our 13 year old in charge of videotaping and he did not check the machine (really I should have!) and he taped over some really cute footage of Ana so we lost the older footage and the whole adoption ceremony did not come out either..ugggh..my husband had tears in his eyes, as did my sister. The judge made us laugh and asked us kiddingly if we still wanted to go throught with it! I have some photo's of Ana since Easter and have been dying to post..but our old computer will not let me attach photo's anymore..I can try at my sisters house..she had such a pretty yellow dress on today and people were stopping us in the hall and telling us how cute she was..our son was able to go even though he has the flu..we loaded him up with cough medicine and tylenol and he was a trooper.. Soon we should be getting a BC for her from our state.. We had an IR-3 Visa and did not have to readopt..nor did we have to change her name since I got to name her at birth..but we felt we should go ahead with the readoption so she would get a US birthcertificate.. Glad adopted child no. 2's paperwork is now all done..yeah! To all of you waiting..we never thought Ana was going to come home..it was a struggle..but very worth it!

Thanks guys..just forgot to tell you'all that we did all of the readoption paperwork ourselves without a lawyer and saved a ton of money! I think it depends on what state you are in, but in ours you are allowed to do it without a lawyer..

What a happy day for you all! I wish I could get my hands on the paperwork here so we wouldn't have to use an attorney, but it's looking like that isn't going to happen

Congratulations!
I'm so happy for you and Ana and your family! Too bad about the videotape.. that sounds like something that usually happens to us! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures and hope you're able to post some soon! Sounds like a very special day! Congratulations to the end of the paperwork! What a feeling that must be!

Hi Cathy!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! It really is an exciting time for your family. I understand about the videos. Sometimes the boys take pictures and ...ugh.....all I get are pictures of feet and teeth!!!! I can't wait to see some pictures of your family once you go to your sisters. I am going to PM you soon....thanks for the answers to my many questions!! By the way, are you going to the GAFE convention in July??? Diane
