After coming home what is next???
We live in Indiana my daughter came home on a IR-3 I am just wanting to make sure we have done everything we need to do as far as legal paper work, follow up visit etc. Can someone advise what needs to be done exactly.

Check with your agency contract or HS agency as there are probably post-placement visits to schedule.
They can also guide you one what needs to be done based on the state where you live. Congrats on bringing your little one home!

I was just on the legal-ease website yesterday reading up on this same thing. Check it out, they have a checklist of sorts.

I also live in Indiana. Indiana recognizes foreign adoptions, but you have to petition the court to get the recognition. I also did the name change at the same time. After the court okays the decree, you can apply for an Indiana birth certificate.
They say this can all be done without an attorney, but I hired one to do mine. I tried to do it myself, but found the process overwhelming and out of my league. Diane |
