Sorry to give a non-answer, but it varies greatly. Our referral was in Mid-January and we are picking up in the next week or two...

You will see that there will be many different answers to this question. The agency you pick will make a huge difference in the time it takes. Guatemalan adoptions have alot of variables and each step seems to take a different amount of time for everyone. My 1st adoption took a year but that was during the Hague. My 2nd adoption is already moving much quicker so I am sure the timeframe will be less. The average time it takes for most people is between 6-8mos or at least that is what is seems. I hope this helps. There is a great website www.guatadopt.com that can explain each step that has to take place.

I agree with ISAIAH'SMOMMY. The process depends on so much. Our agency told us from the beginning that the average is 6-8 months, however we are not even thinking about the 8 months. We are trying to prepare ourselves that it will be longer, in case it really is. It's easier to prepare your heart that your child is coming home earlier than you anticipate than vice versa. Good Luck! I hope your journey s VERY quick!!!!! Keep us updated!
