I was a wreck all week-end. I was the lean mean cleaning machine. My dh kept saying, "Let's call it good." I couldn't stop. I called it therapy, my family called me nuts. Anyway, all went very well and we are finished with the HS!!!
We have to make an appointment for fingerprints. We have to drive 200 miles to have this done and coordinate it with dd and ds college and work schedules-should be fun! SW said it would take her about 3 weeks to write up the hs. We also have to go to a cross-cultural parenting workshop at the end of the month(also 200 miles away). Oh by the way, if you haven't had your home visit, don't sweat it like others have said before. Becky

Congratulations on getting the dreaded home visit behind you! Now you can live in your house again. My husband is the neat freak of our family (at least compared to me). He wouldn't even let me use the bathroom before our homestudy because he thought I would splash water on the counter.

One down, One to go!!!
I've got one more visit to go, but my homestudy worker is SOOOO sweet- it's really been a no stress situation.
I'm having a MUCH harder time deciding on which agency to use! LOL |

hee hee, I remember that great feeling when the HS was over! Our SW was very very sweet and wonderful to work with. BUT, she did warn me before her visit that she was anti-TV for kids. She also handed me a couple of articles on the negative effects of TV on children and suggested a couple of books on the subject. I freaked!!! TV is very comforting for my bio son with autism when there is someone new in the house. Now I had to think about how he was going to keep happily occupied for 2+ hours without getting anxious.
The HS actually went fine. I sent up several activities for my son to keep busy with and he got to watch TV beforehand so he wouldn't be asking for it when the SW was in the house. Well, after keeping himself busy for almost 2 hours, he wandered around the living room contemplating what to do next. He said "I'm bored with playdoh and coloring." Then walked over to the TV and said "and I can't watch TV because I already just watched ALOT of TV today". LOL!!!!! I was mortified but she didn't hold it against us. Rita |

Great news!
Hi Becky! This is wonderful news!! Isn't that such a relief?? We too were cleaning NUTS...I mean CRAZY! She was here for only a few minutes, super-sweet....just "walked through"...our HS was mostly comprised of a long phone interview, and just this quick Home Visit.
Rita - I can't imagine what you went through about the TV! I would have been in panic mode!! My son watches TV pretty frequently. How stressful for you and glad it went well. Anyway, great news Becky - sounds like things are moving right along. We got for our INS prints this Fri. too....I'll be glad to get that behind us! Good luck!
