Will they accept his new BC and Adoption decree as citizenship?
Thanks,

Depends on the office...they wouldn't for us...we had to have the Certificate of Citizenship.

They wouldn't for us either. We had to wait for either the COC or US Passport! We opted for the passport, as it was faster, but have since applied for their COC's.

Thank you guys for the info. Our agency said to take a copy of the Child Citizenship Act, we'll see if that helps, if not I'll apply for the passport since that *is* faster.

The first time I went to SS office I only took the BC and re-adoption papers along with his Guat. passport. We had changed his name during re-adoption and wanted that name on the SS card. They would have issued us a SS card, but only with his Guat. name since this is what INS had on file. The only way to change this was by COC or US passport. We had to have the BC, re-adoption papers, and US passport in order to get his new name on the card. We opted for the US passport because was told the COC could take up to two years. We recieved his SS card two weeks ago (it only took a week to get in mail) and filed our taxes.
Hope this helps, did not want you to waste a trip to SS office like I did.
