Homestudy
I am really starting to get anxious about our homestudy. We had a meeting last week with our SW, we each have seperate appts this week, and we finish with the final appt next week. I just have so much idle time right now that I get over-anxious, it seems like the days are just crawling by. I am hoping that it won't take long for the study to get written up.
Question: I have heard alot of you say that the homestudy agency sometimes sends a copy directly to the INS office. How does the INS office know who it belongs to? Is there an account number or something that we should know to give to the agency?

I believe that INS can match up the homestudy with the i-600a by the name and SSN. It shouldn't be a problem.
I know that time seems to be passing so slowly for you right now and it is not easy to be patient, but think of this as practice. I hate to tell you that it gets even harder once you have your referral and have seen your precious little one's face! Best of luck to you in this adoption journey!

You are completely normal first of all. Anxiety about the homestudy is very very normal. All those questions and your ability to adopt resting in this sole persons hands. However, remember that these SW's are wanting to help you not deny you. I found myself the most nervous about the individual interviews so me the control freak sat my husband down with a list of questions that SW's often ask and we wrote our answers down and than discussed them. I was worried because I tend to exaggerate and romanticize things in my head and my husband is straight forward black and white kind of guy. But to my relief we answered every question very similar. Looking back I am laughing at myself. Sorry to ramble but my point is that you will do fine. If you are uncomfortable with the SW sending a copy of the homestudy to USCIS I am sure that they would let you do that yourself. To match it up most just type a cover letter up and list all the important info name, ss # etc. Ami

I like you wanted everything to happen much faster than it seemed to actually happen. My agency sent my homestudy directly to the INS before I even knew that it was completed.
I hate to say it but the waiting only gets worse. We have been told by our agency to only expect updates or pictures once a month. I now can't wait to get to work and check my email and then when I get home from work I have to check again to see if they sent something during the time I was communting. It's only been a couple of weeks but it seems like longer since we had an update. This process will definately test you patience. That's why I love seeing the picture parades on this website because it reminds me of what is yet to come. Good luck!

Home Study Agencies send things to INS all the time...they know exactly who to send it to. Your INS office has a file with your names on it, and when the home study arrives they put it with your file and if your FBI clearance is in, then they begin reviewing your information.

Thanks everyone. I think I am just having one of those days where you can hear every tick of the clock! It has just been a long day. I'm sure the SW knows what she is doing, it's just the worrying.

I just got some good news. I got an email from my SW saying that as long is all the paperwork is in that our Homestudy will be done and written up by March 28th. Now I just have to move quicker on the Dossier.
Thank you for listening everyone. Steph
