My understanding, at least from our placement agency, is that the agency's fees are double for two kids. Each child has his own case, each needs DNA, each goes into PGN separately, etc. This may vary from agency to agency. Of course you would only need one HS so that would be some savings

Our agency charges 1/2 the regular agency fee for the 2nd child. So it is a little less expensive to adopt two at one time. We actually considered this too, and would love to have twins (my husband has twin sisters), but we are planning to adopt a boy now and a girl in 3-4 years.

We adopted two children at once and both posts above were correct for us. Our agency's fee was less than half for the 2nd child, but everything else was double. Between the discounted agency fee, the savings in travel (picked them up together) and only one homestudy and postplacement visit, we saved approximately $7,500 to $10,000 on our 2nd child. I hope this helps.

I think the typical case is no discount on attorney fee, no discount on Visa, I600A, or DNA. There may be up to 50% discount on the agency fee portion.
So...if you are lucky enough to travel just one time (some cases of siblings do not finish at the same time) then you will save on travel expense and on home study. Good Luck!

I adopted infant cousins. My agency charged one agency fee and the Guatemala fee was reduced a couple of thousand from double.

We are adopting siblings. We applied for 2 children on the I600A, so the additional fees do not apply for us there, just double the visa fee of $380. The agency waived the second fee since it is one case. If we adopted 2 unrelated children, it would be 2 agency fees. The attorney is charging us for one case plus fixed expenses, but we had to push for that prior to accepting the referral. DNA was $675 ($225/person).
Costs for siblings are agency and attorney dependent. If you are seriously considering siblings, do your research. |
