what does final adoption decree look like?

Hi everyone -

I'm working on filling out state readoption papers and I'm supposed to submit the adoption decree from Guatemala and the original birth certificate.

This sounds silly, but I can't figure out which of these documents is the adoption decree. Is it the same as the Protoculo? The attorney gave us a big packet of docs (all in Spanish) on our pickup trip and most have no identifying titles.

The other thing is that all of these documents are photocopies - I don't have an original among them! I have a sinking feeling about this.

Any advice? Thanks!

It's the Protocolo. You should have gotten both Spanish and English Translations in the packet from your Attorney. Call your agency if you didn't get the English translations.

Best of luck to you.

Carl

Our attorney gave us NOTHING!!! We are still working on getting these... our son has been home 3 months already and still nothing. I am furious to say the least. They should have given you translated documents... call your agency.

Funny you should ask this...I was wondering the same thing!

We've had a nightmare waiting for an insurance card & proof of coverage for Brielle since we brought her home. In fact, yesterday when I called they said they never received the adoption decree or certificate...yet I was sure I had sent it. Then I looked in our file of paperwork and couldn't even figure out what to send, so maybe I didn't after all!

My Russian-born kids paperwork was labeled and titled so it was much easier to identify...

Thanks Carl - I thought I was missing something here. I'll see if the agency can get me the translated version.
