I'm posting because I'm at the end of my rope. We just found out that we were kicked out of PGN AGAIN last Friday for a "new" PGN requirement:

"They are now requiring a statement that the family is aware of Guatemalan adoption laws and understands that they will have the same rights in the US once adopted as they would there."

I don't even know what this means but my agency says that the attorney is drafting an affidavit to deal with this?????

Has anyone heard of this before?? Why does it feel like they're making things up as it goes along???

I am SO sad about this....we've been in/out of PGN since late October and are just struggling with this process ( as I know many of you all are). I just want to cry and cry.......will we ever bring our baby girl home???

That's a new one to me, but then again, nothing they do surprises me anymore. I am SOOO sorry this happened to you, maybe it is just your certain reviewer? Again, nothing surprises me and I hope your daughter is home soon!!

I have never heard of this either. I am soooo sorry this has happened to you, it is unfair what else are they going to think up. I hope that this gets straighted out quickly and the rest of your process goes smooth.

This is terrible!! I bet we will hear the same thing soon, we have been in since Oct. 26. We probably have the same "meany" reviewer
Is it taking your reviewer a long time to review your case? That is the hard part for me...waiting 4-6 weeks before we hear if we're kicked out.

"We are going to get out soon, we are going to get out soon".... say it with me Karen...."We are going to get out soon!" I'm just being silly, but hey, it might work.

Sorry to hear that nothing has changed since last year with new and creative previo.

All I can say is hang in there. I fully understand what you are going through because it was Oct 2003 when we were submitted and finally released in March 2004.

Just keep telling yourself that everyday is one day closer.

I am sorry to hear of all the problems you are having. I did actually hear of this before on the big list. I contacted our agency and they told me to have our homestudy person write an addendum to our homestudy. We aren't to PGN yet so I don't know if it would have been an issue but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

I hope, for your sake, that we don't have the same reviewer!!! Both times that we've been kicked out it was after 4 weeks of being "in".

I'm just stunned and amazed over this one--I'm hoping that whatever the attorneys are doing to address this issue works. We had heard from our agency director yesterday (just back from the convention) that the attorneys were filing complaints with PGN for these strange requests---and that a lot of cases were just thrown out for this. I'm not sure what to think about that approach---I hope it works??? Otherwise, just give me whatever letter they want me to sign and I will!!

OH ... THAT! Yes, Karen I signed one and sent in for Cert and Auth and they sent it to atty ... do not know they ever needed to have it, but yeah, we did that in late October, just in case. I wonder if we had the same reviewer?

I'm primarily a lurker but I was curious. DO any of the individuals who have been in PGN a long time know the name of your reviewer?
We received a previo with the same requirement and our Guat lawyer addressed it and we went back in to PGN. I hope they handled it sufficiently.
Anyway I would be curious if there is consistency among the cases being held up in PGN due to a specific reviewer.
I know the name of ours but hesitate to put it here. Please PM me if you know the name of your reviewer and you have been in a while.

I have no clue on the name of our reviewer. I have no idea how others know. Our agency doesn't seem to provide that info. Hm...

I just wanted to let you know that I was kicked out for the same thing. My agency is having me sign a copy of the state law on international adoption that says I understand these laws. Basically the state law says that the child will have the same rights as a biological child.

Good luck getting it all back in and hopefully we all we get out soon!

You shoul be able to find out who your reviewer is if your agency receives a copy of the document from PGN stating the reasons why you were kicked out. I don't know what the document is called, but it lists your previos, is signed by the reviewer and by Merida (I think). It may not be your reviewer who is taking such a long time, but Merida taking a long time to sign off.
If you don't get kicked out (lucky you!), you probably won't know who your reviewer is until after you get all your documents back from your agency.
