What to wear??

I'm sorry I know this has been posted over and over. We are visiting soon and will be spending all of our time at the Marriott. Our 2 teenage daughters are going with us and I just wanted to know if the dress code everyone talks about applies to inside the hotel. Can they wear jeans or shorts in the lobby and resturants at the Marriott? We are trying to pack as light as possible and since we are mainly going to be inside the hotel we would also like to be as comfortable as possible. Thanks!

Hi
I would think shorts would be ok inside the hotel....there was an Italian tennis team at the Holiday Inn last year (my single sister was pretty impressed) and they had shorts on....if you go to dinner or outside of the hotel...definately capri pants or long pants are in order...they do dress up more than we do here...I had brought a dress with me and never used it..I just wore my dressier black capri pants and was fine...have a great trip!

We wore mostly lounge outfits (matching sweat pants and jackets), shorts, etc. We had most of our meals on the patio by the swimming pool and it was very nice. I think jeans, khakis, any thing casual will be acceptable. Have a Wonderful trip and take lots of pictures!!!!!

Amused by the recommendations on dress code by our agency I asked some Guatemalans what their opinion was concerning how I dressed in their country. My exact question was "Would you be offended if I were to wear shorts?" The answer I received was "No. You are an American. We don't expect you to look like us."
So if you are staying in the hotel I can't possibly think of a reason why you would need to be concerned about dress.

Good Luck

Inside the hotel I would say wear whatever you wear at home that's right for the weather. I wore shorts and jeans and tank tops and did not feel uncomfortable.

Outside the hotel I wore capris, skirts below the knees or cargo pants. I look different enough with blonde hair and blue eyes that I didn't want to draw ADDITIONAL attention to myself.

Have a great trip!
