When to take leave from work.

Hello,
I wish I would have found this sight a long time ago! My question how long does it usually take for "Pink" I was out of PGN on October 7th. I was told 2 to 3 weeks. Using this time frame I was thinking about starting my leave from work Monday October 25th. Would that be too early?

Hi!

2-3 weeks used to be the average timeframe and I know some folks are getting pink in 2-3 weeks but it seems like lately some are running 4-6 weeks??? It took 4 for me in September...

It is very hard to predict but once you know you have the new birth certificate then you know you are very close to pink...

Hope it comes sooner than later for you!

Caspmom,

2-3 weeks is what it used to be I think. However, most of us currently waiting on pink are at the 4-6 week range. Unfortunately I have learned to throw out the lower number and focus on the longest number. I keep getting excited every Monday and depressed every Thursday night at 10:00pm when my agency closes knowing no pink for me. As for leave from work I don't know. How much in advance do you need to notify them and how much time do you get off? That would be a big determining factor for me. IMHO I would go with probably 4 weeks out from when you got released from PGN.

Hope you see pink soon
Ami

Our agency told us that we exited PGN on Oct. 1st and to be prepared to travel the week of Oct 18th. I forwarded the e-mail to my boss and began making plans to resign. My last day is Oct 19th even tho' it looks like we won't travel until next week. I figure I'll take the rest of the week to tie up loose ends. Good Luck!!

We got pink a while ago and our son has been home 5-months and this is what I did: When we exited PGN I told my boss, my leave is rapidly approaching. I gave him the earliest date possible that we might travel and said, "if it's later are you going to be upset?" He said no way, just have your work transitioned the earliest date and we'll consider it lucky if you're here longer.

My leave started the earliest date I had requested, as our pink came quickly.

If you have an understanding boss and a good relationship, I recommend this approach.
