photos of home, family, etc for dossier

I am finishing up my dossier documents and working on the photos of our home, friends and family, etc. Our agency says photos of the home inside and out. Did you send photos of all of the rooms? I'm wondering about the guest bedroom and the dining room and things like that....

Thanks in advance for any advice...

not every room

We sent 3 or 4 of the main parts of our home...not every room. We also sent a few of the outside (front and back). They just want to see you aren't living in a tent! lol

rooms

yellowdog is correct...our agency just required a few casual ones of us, 2 family ones dressed up...one having a full few of us(i guess so that they can see if we are handicapped) and one of the front of our house, one of the back, one of the babies room and we included one of our family room and kitchen. we are in pgn now and haven't heard any problems with ppeople and their pics...i think the guatemalans just want to get an idea of who you are as a family and make sure the baby has a roof over his/her head.

good luck!

Depends on the agency...so you might want to ask. We require the following:
4 of the couple
4 of the couple with friends and family
front and back of the house and every major room (no bathrooms)

Check with your agency. Ours did require every major room in the house for a total of at least 15 pictues. We have a small house, so we had multiple pictures of the rooms -- different angles -- in order to get to the 15.

Thanks everyone! I checked with our agency. They want 12-18 pics including the major living areas and baby's room. They also said our legs shouldn't be showing in the pictures b/c they do not wear shorts in Guatemala! I've already started and now have to redo some!

pics

We had to send 2 prints of every room in the house (except the bathrooms), 2 prints of the front & rear views of the house's exterior, and 2 prints of each of us separately and 2 prints of us together~
Hope that helps,
Melnie

This is a great thread... I was just wondering what type of pics they'd want to see.

I thought of the 'dress code' thing... it might not be a good idea to include pics of us wearing shorts or looking to "casual"..right?

I'm concerned though coz our nursery is not ready yet! I was going to wait to do that when we got to PGN and I had nothing to do... lol. Is this going to be a problem now? The room I'd like to use is an extra guest room with a single bed, dresser and desk.

Our agency was very specific: two pages of photos:

1 photo of kitchen
1 photo of living room
1 photo of baby's room
1 closeup of us
(we decided to dress "business casual"!)
1 photo of us with extended family
1 photo of outside of house, back
1 photo of outside of house, front

Wow! That's a lot of variablity.

The attorney in Guatemala requested:
front & back of house, two interior shots, and one of me. (I added one of the park directly across the street from my house

99 did you have to have the nursery completed for the photo? Or did you just need a pic of the room?

thanks,

Newsie

We only had to have 4 pictures. One of the front of the house. One of us in front of the house and 2 room shots. We did the kitchen and the living room. Maybe they are requiring more now.

nursery

We were told we didn't need to have a nursery completed, but to show a bedroom and label it to say that it would become the nursery.

The fact that there's SO MUCH variability on this just underscores the necessity of always checking with our agencies! I've been amazed over the months at how different things are depending on your state, your agency, your attorney, etc. This forum is a fabulous resource, but we do need to be cautious about saying "this is how you do it" because that might not be true for someone in another state, etc.

But it is fun to see all the different answers!

Devora

P.S. The first set of pictures I did I obsessed over everything being clean. But I took those on a disk that was corrupted so I had to redo them. The second time I realized that dust was NOT going to show up so I didn't need to be so obsessive! There were even a couple of rooms that had a lot of clutter and I just moved the stuff out to the next room so things looked clean, took the picture, and moved the stuff back in. It would have been funny to an outsider to watch!

Ok good...so I bet just a pic of the baby's room 'as is' will be ok. We actually haven't decided on which room to use yet...I think the smaller one would be cozier though.

I want to wait to paint and decorate the nursery AFTER we get sent to PGN. All that work will help me to keep busy while we wait. After all this paper work is done I'll have plenty of energy.

Devora...I had to laugh at you moving out things to "de-clutter". Very cute! Lol...

This is interesting. We just had 4 house pictures - one of the front of the house, one of the back, one of the kitchen and one of the family room. We also had several of us - couple only, whole family, family with friends... I am glad I didn't need to take pictures of every room! I don't need everyone seeing my half-done decorating projects!
