Help! I'm freaking out...

Hi everyone,
Well I got back the certified DNA results from the Sec of State in NC, only my ______ mailman left by mailbox open and it poured today....so....of course all of the paperwork is ruined!!!
All of the pages are stuck together and the ink is running all over.
I just hysterically cried for about 20 minutes, and then I thought..I'll ask the forums!!

If I call Labcorp on Monday, will they send me out new notarized originals that I can then get cert .and auth.?
Or should I just jump off the nearest building?!

Thanks,
Lori

Lori - Don't freak out. Worst case is you can get another copy but I don't think you need them. The Embassy gets a copy either from your attorney or LabCorp (I am not sure which) and then they work on the pre-approval. For my first adoption, I never needed the DNA paperwork. It has a photocopy of the birthmom which I wanted. Although, the original is eventually at INS. Double check with others here and your agency but I think you are OK.

Ditto. All we received was a photocopy of the results. Our agency got the original that needed authentication. We still have that doc in our file at home and our son is home, so it was a non-issue. I'd take a deep breath , call your agency Monday and see if they received a copy as well.

I would still ask that Labcorp send out another copy (or have your agency make one) as it was the only picture we got of our son's birthmom, and we definitely will keep it for him for later.

Best,
Kelley

Don't jump off the nearest building! We got preapproval without me doing anything with our DNA results. Like Laura7542, my understanding was that the Embassy got their own copy directly from LabCorp. Check with your agency on Monday, but I too think you are ok. Then go give your postman a piece of your mind!

Gotta love the mail delivery services...

I've had both FedEx, UPS, and the post office leave stuff, mail and all, on my porch uncovered in the snow and rain. When we were waiting for our dossier to be mailed to us from the Guatemala Embassy for adoption no. 1 we made sure we were home because of this nonsense.

I'm sure you can get another copy. Will it be a pain, sure, as most things are, but I am sure you can get one.
