Waiting for DNA
OK I am so nervous. Victor is almost 4 and I am a wreck about this DNA stuff! I pd w/my credit card on 8/3 and I called the lab this morning and they still do not have it. What if they can't find her......what if she wants him back..... I can't take it I am dying over this. Is this the normal timeframe????

Hi,
I'm in the kind of the same boat you are. I've been told that our dna was done on 2 different dates.. and still don't have any results. It's so frustrating!! Which lab are you using? I wasn't given any contact info for our lab. Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing your "dna results post."

waiting for DNA tests?
Word has it, LabCorp in NC does ALL of the Guatemala DNA testing.
I am waiting also -- in FC, just got I171H last week, testing not yet scheduled, and Samuel is 18 mos old, so I am quite worried too ... I know he will recognize his birthmom, but will he cry? Will she want him back? The picture at relinquishment showed her eyes red from crying. It surely will be very difficult for them both. Let's all hope for the best, together -- these birthmoms know they are helping their kid in the long run and it takes a lot of strength to initiate relinquishment. Maybe it would be better if we do not know anything, till results are back. Linda, waiting for Samuel, 18 mos 3/22/02 Daughter home from India 9/?/02 Applied for second child from India 4/8/04 Switched from India to Guatemala 5/17 Accepted referral of Samuel, b. 1/28/03 6/17 I-600A & fingerprints 7/13 Dossier to Guatemala 8/9 Family Court/Birthmother interview scheduled 07/30 I161H received |

Hey guys... It is labcorp....here's the number and contacts. The girls are really nice 877-370-1129 and ask for Libby or Tracy.
I am a wreck!!!!!!!! Victors is the reason I started this process. I fell in love w/ his picture and just knew he would be with us forever now I am sick..... I couldn't even think about not getting him. I would just die. Hopefully it will all work out! I am just putting it out of my mind and I will call again on Friday! Good Luck to all- thanks - Jenn

Lab Corp is not the only lab that does DNA in Guatemala. Orchid and a few others do them as well. I would talk to your agency and see what lab they used. Our agency used a lab that I had never heard of on this forum and we called them, but were never able to get in touch with them. We did however get the results soon there after. I would strongly suggest asking your agency if there is a date set for it and when it is to be done. I then would call 2-3 days after it was to be done (to give the lawyer to report to them that it in fact has been done) and I would keep on them about it. I was a pain in my agencies butt. (always polite and understanding) I really feel it helped my case as far as them informing me.
I hope that you get news very soon that it has been done. Just remember, sometimes it is the distance of the birthmother that makes it take so long. Our son's b mother was 3 hours away, so it added time as she had to get off of work and travel to GC. Bridget
