Question about pink
For those who've received pink in the last few months - what IS the hold up? I've heard it can run 3-4 weeks now, but most agencies printed materials say 2-3 weeks, so I assume this is a recent development?
What is the variable? I heard once that it is taking longer for some birth certificates - but from which cities? I think our daughter was born in Mixco (?) - does anyone know how quickly those bc's can be obtained? Waiting (but not too long or too impatiently...yet), with a million things to do, but ready to put them ALL aside and leave tomorrow if we can get pink! Thanks for any information! Confession...I thought I'd be able to cut down on my forum/email checking once we were out of PGN...I guess I won't be able to cut down until I actually have PINK! dcsmnl |

We got ours 2 weeks ago and dour hold up was 1 week because the birth mother was out of town for final signature. We waited 3 weeks, but had she been there, it would have been 2 weeks. Our birth certificate took one day to be issued and they translated over the weekend, submitted it on a Monday to the embassy and pink was there on Wednesday. So I think it has a lot to do with the Bmom, Bcertificate, and translation. Best of luck. I hope you hear very soon that you can travel.

Our birthcertificate is taking longer as well. Our attorney told us to expect it to take longer than our daughter's birthcertificate just a few months ago. From what I understand, there is a new person in the central registry in Guatemala City who is "requiring" additional paperwork before issuing birthcertificates. Although our son was not born in Guatemala City, our attorney said that surrounding cities tend to follow suit.
We are expecting pink around the 18 or 19th of this month. Hope that helps! Kim

Ours took a week from b-mom signature. Jonah's came from Chimaltenango, so we didn't have the wait time that GC did. I also heard that the computer system at the central registry was down and that accounts for some of the backlog and subsequent delay.
Best, Kelley
