MN marriage certificate HELP!

OK, we are a little stressed! Looks like PGN wants a different marriage certificate from us than what they have!?? We were married in MN and there is only one type that is issued! OK so we need another one ASAP! I see that there are some companies online that can do it they say quickly. Any reccomendations on this? We do not live there anymore and would love to be able to get this done ASAP. Anybody else from MN have a problem with their marriage certificate. We also got kicked out for needing a statement of health letter for our other two kids and then they also want a copy of our home study social workers license. How interesting?? Time for us to get a move on!!! Any help with the marriage certificate thing would be great!!
Thanks

What did they say was wrong with the Minnesota Marriage Certificate? I would call the Clerk of Court in the County your Marriage was filed in, and see if they can Rush you one. Then Express it to the Secretary of State's Office for the State Seal. I know the Sec of State has a Web Site

http://www.sos.state.mn.us/

They will Expidite for a larger Fee...

I don't know anything about those companies that say they can get documents. You may be able to deal with it over the phone, just as quickly.

All else fails (I see your in California) Lately NWA has had pretty cheap flights between Lax and Minneapolis if you really want it done right it might be the best if you do it yourself. I know the Sec of State will State Seal a Document while you wait if you get there early enough (when I was there it was around noon or 1 PM as they closed at 3:30).

Good Luck,

Joelpapi

I was told that the one submitted did not have the date or place as to where it was obtained. This I do not understand as the copy I have in front of me has a date issued, date recorded, and shows it is from the State of Minnesota and the County of Dakota. I am also afraid of getting another certified copy and to just find out it is the same thing as they have. Not sure what else to do here. Looks like we are really getting pinged in the PGN. They also want a copy of our social workers license as well as a health statement for our biological kids. Just when we thought we were almost there!! Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

We too had to have notarized, certified, authenticated copies of our SW license and the agencies license. We it was not on our list of things for our dossier, but mid process our lawyer requested it as well so once we got into PGN we would not get kicked out. That was fairly easy as our agency could notarize it for us. As far as the marriage certificate goes, I have no ideas for you. Best of luck getting this stuff all done quickly so you can get back in. Sorry you are having to stress!

relax- how old was the M.certificate?

maybe they oversaw the info they were looking for?
just get another one- submit- and see what happens.

Just remember- working with international- that
documents can always be "wrong" in their eyes- but
yet- are completely correct- so just get another copy-
submit- and if it's still wrong- see if your agency can
answer your questions- or they can have someone
point it out to them- that the information is there-

just relax- it will work out-
ok-

I would definitely call the county clerk from the county you were married.

I know that for my husband's birth certificate from Michigan, we ordered an authenticated copy from one of those internet sites, and it was fine, but cost more. We also ordered one directly from the county he was born in and it was not only cheaper, but a completely different certificate. So each county may have their own form.

Also, when my sister adopted, she was given a totally different marriage certificate than the type that I obtained--and we were both married in the same county in Minnesota. But hers was ordered from the state, whereas I had just walked into the local courthouse and got mine right there. So there ARE different forms/appearances.

I don't know if that helped much, but I would call the county clerk. Hope you figure it out!

Well, thanks for the helpful words. I do feel better about it this morning. I already have 2 certified marriage certificates that will arrive in the mail tomorrow morning. Hopefully they will accept it this time. I guess all we can do is try. Also already got our medical letter signed and notarized today. The only other thing we need is our SW copy of license. Hopefully we will also get that today. The fun part will be sending it through all the proper places. Thanks again for everyones positive and helpful responses. These forumns are great, especially when you do not know where to go from here.
Thanks,
Christy
