We have submitted our I600A to Charlotte NC office and I just received a letter stating they received it and that it will be processed in the order they have come in...and I am to get another letter with a date and time for fingerprints. Our HS will be done by July 30th and I was just wondering how long it takes to get a fingerprint appt and also once the fingerprints are done how long to get our 171H.

WE are anxious since we have already accepted a referral for a little 6 month baby boy..

Any information would be helpful.

We had to resubmit our paperwork to the Charlotte CIS (long story, long adoption process). Their website says that they are now processing I600A forms submitted in March. I'm not sure this is entirely accurate, but things are moving pretty slowly there. I've contacted our senators and representatives to draw attention to the matter.

Hi Carrie - Congrats on your baby boy! We, too, are waiting on our baby boy and hope to have him here at home by Christmas.

Here was our experience/timeline with the Charlotte INS:
we submitted I600A around 2/20/04 and were shortly thereafter sent our letter indicating INS's receipt of our documents along with notice that we'd be getting a fingerprinting date assigned at some point.
We were assigned 5/1/04 and got fingerprinted then.
Once done, we waited again for the results and finally were issued our 171H on 6/14/04.
