visit

I am relatively new to this site. Our case was ko of pgn and the problem probably won't be resolved for a couple of weeks. We had not intended to visit but are thinking about going on the 24th of June now since it seems like it is going to take longer than we anticipated. I am afraid seeing Lily in person will make it even harder to leave. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi there, I just had to respond.. we named our daughter Lily too! LOL I've since discovered that it's suddenly this super popular name!

We are visiting next week. I had planned on visiting all along so we're just thrilled and excited! How old is your Lily? Ours will be 3 months on the 12th.

Unhappy

Hi, just a little of my experience. I visited my beautiful daughter about 4 weeks ago now, we have at least 7 weeks till this is all over. I want to first tell you that you should go ,so that you have the memories of your daughter when she was this age. I also will tell you that it is gut wrenching, try not to think about it till you have to. I would not trade the 4 days I had of holding my baby. I don't think I put her down, well except to put a differant outfit on for pictures . Go and show your baby you love her, it will hurt, but you will have beautiful memories.

We visited four times. Each and every visit was worth it. It is hard to leave, yes, but I told myself I HAD to leave her behind and that seemed to help me deal with it more. The hardest visit was when we went for her first birthday and we'd been at this for close to a year and still weren't in PGN because of lack of visa preapproval. We had absolutely no idea when we'd be bringing her home, and it was TERRIBLE to leave her on that visit.

Then, we planned another visit a few months later - only to find out a week before going that we were out of PGN! That was a WONDERFUL visit, as we knew it was only a matter of a few weeks and we'd be bringing her home for good. Hopefully the same will happen to you if you do decide to visit!

Tina

Thanks for the feedback..I think we are definitely going on the 24th of June. My Lily is 5 months ole, born January 6, 2004. So if anyone will be at the Marriott from the 24th to the 2 of July please let me know, would love to meet people going through the same thing. This is a great site I am so glad I found it.

We'll be back in Guatemala City the night of June 27 and 28, but won't have Lily with us then. We have her 15-18 and then we're traveling, going to Antigua, etc. until the 27th but we will be back at the Marriott.

Hi,

I definately agree with what everyone has said. I am getting ready to go back for my 3rd visit (it will be my husbands 2nd visit) and boy is it worth it. Each time before the visit was only for 4 days, but this time is will be for 10 days. I will be at the Marriott until the 28th and look forward to meeting you. One of the boys we are adopting will be celebrating his first birthday while we are there!!! We are very excited to be able to share that day with him.
