Question Shoe sizes for toddler???

We are finally out of PGN and hopefully on our way soon to pick up our daughter!

I need to know what shoe sizes to buy. We've visited twice, and I never seem to get the shoes right!

Rosemary is 14 months old, and seems to almost be 'American baby size'. She wears 12-18 month clothes.

Help! Someone out there must have a better clue than I do!

Thanks,

Kelly

Kelly,
Our daughter is 14.5 months old and also wears 12-18 month clothes. (She's almost 23 lbs and 30" tall.) She just went into size 5 shoes.
Congratulations!
Michelle

Congratulations! Size five sound right to me too. A quick tip -- make sure the shoe has a deep instep and easy opening (the tongue can be pulled way back). My three boys had feet like little blocks at that age and even if the shoe was long enough, a shallow, stiff shoe would never go on. There is a line of shoes that fit like moccasins that are great. I'm sure someone on the forum will know the name. Good Luck!

We also were just released from PGN and I recently posted about this subject and most of the responses were to bring a couple of sizes of shoes, so I am bringing Sizes 3, 4 and 5.

This is really funny as my DD and I dealt with the exact same thing when we were in Guatemala two weeks ago. Alicia is 14 1/2 months old but is very tiny and still able to fit into 6 - 9 month clothes. Laurie took size 3 shoes for her but, since she is trying to walk, she was having a hard time picking up her feet. We found a store that had a pair of size 1 1/2 shoes and now she is doing much better. The bigger size must have been like wearing clown shoes for her. Now we are looking for more shoes in the smaller size but 1/2 sizes don't seem to be very common in the US. She can probably wear a size 2 for a while yet and save the 3's for the fall or winter. If your baby is wearing 12 or 18 month clothes, she sounds as though a 4 or 5 size would fit her.

14 months here

Our little girl is in 12-18 months clothes too, but also fits into some 6-9 mos, it all depends on the brand of clothes. She is still in size 3 shoes, a pair of sandals we just moved up to size 4 but the rest are all still size 3. It all depends on the child and if they are related to "Big Foot" or not.. (smile). Bring a few sizes with, 3-5 should do it.

Best wishes,
Raelynn

Soft Shoes

The soft shoes, shaped like moccasins are called Robeez. I found them on Ebay.

Our little girl is 15 months yesterday and she is in a size 3 shoes She is 21.3 lbs and 30 inches tall She did just go up to a size 4 in saltwater sandals but she has a high instep and it causes some shoes not to fit well. I think 2-4 should cover it! Brooklyn wears 12-18months and some 18-24 months but I always like to buy a little big! Beth

My daughter has really tiny feet. she is 17 mo old, 25 lbs, 30 in. tall and wears 3 1/2. 4 is a bit big yet. she wears 12 -18. but some brands are getting tight, so 24 mo is more like it. her legs are really fat so it makes her feet look even smaller!! bring a few sizes and the sandals that are velcro that adjust the top would work best.

Oh my gosh, you didn't tell me you were out of PGN!!!! YEHAAWWWWW!!!

Parker is 20 months and wears 12, 18, and 24 month clothes depending on what it is and he wears a 6 1/2. However my great niece is same age and barely gets into a 5.

What I did was took several different sizes and luckily I had one pair that fit him!!!

Hope that helps and congrats again!!

I would second the opinion of the person who suggested Robeez. There is another simillar brand called Bobux. These shoes are soft, like mocasins, & are sold by age-range, like clothing. So you can buy them in 12-18 month size. Even if they are a little big they can still be worn. My daughter was wearing her 12-18 mo & 18-24 mo shoes during an overlapping period of time. Added bonuses are that the child cannot remove the shoe & they keep the socks on. These are ideal shoes for beginning walkers, as the child can feel the ground through the sole. The only drawback is that a child cannot walk outside with these during wet or cold weather.

What you might want to do for the pick up trip is to go to a place like Target, buy a couple of pairs of shoes in various sizes and when you get to GC use the pair that fits the best and return the rest when you come home. Then you can take your daughter to a place like Stride Rite and get shoes that are properly fitted. Our son came in one pair of shoes from his Hogar, they were ok but I am sure he wasn't the first kid to wear them.

Have a great trip,

Joelpapi

Rena was a size 4 at 14 months. She could still were a few bigger 3's. It can depend on the brand too. Robeez might be the way to go!
