The happy day will come......

Just wanted to encourage those still waiting to bring their children home, especially those long timers. With the Hague mess last year, it took us 14 months to bring our son home. He was 28 months old when we made the pick-up trip. He has been home for about 6 months and everything turned out great. All our fears about him being older did not materialize. We were shocked at how fast he adjusted. We were mommy and daddy even before we boarded the plane back home. He has been having the time of his life and so have we. However, our almost miracle transition was tempered by the adoption process of our close friends, whose little girl was still in Guatemala. We started the process about the same time. They met us at the airport and were amazed at how well our son fit into our family. They were happy for us, but saddened by not having their little girl. Well, after 6 more months, she finally came home last week and is 27 months old. She is the Latin Shirley Temple and a real cutie. It took our friends almost 20 months to bring her home. However, I really wanted to report that she is also very happy, well adjusted and having no problems. She does wake up several times per night, but this is only natural as she gets used to her new home and a room of her own. Our son did the same at first, but this quickly passed. It really appears that even though these children were older, they were well cared for and loved by their foster mothers. As many of you wait in frustration for your little ones to come home, we know what you are going through. At several times it was hard to go another day. We both felt like this would never happen. Yet we now both have healthy happy children, who seem like they have been with us since birth. Keep the faith and press on, as your day will also come. When it does, all the hard times and difficult days will melt away. God bless.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. We are currently waiting on our INS approval. It feels like it will never come. After that more waiting, but worth the wait for our little girl (Mia Grace). I can't wait till referral day.
