Referral Medical Question

Hello All!

I have just received a referral of a baby boy. I knew that medical info was limited, but am surprised at how emotional my reaction!

My referral was a surprise, as I thought my wait time would be longer. Thus, I feel totally unprepared. I have been frantically trying to contact some local pediatricians, as my agency says I can request additional medical tests.

I have no clue what other tests to request. Did any of you request additional testing? If so, what type?
Any suggestions for a pediatrician who specializes in international adoptions that would be willing to speak with me?

ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you....
Clarice

In California

Hi Clarice:

In California, Oakland's Children's Hospital has pediatricians who specialize in evaluating adoption video and photos. I've not used anyone yet, but when I do, I'll post experiences.

Overall, this hospital has an excellent reputation, but that doesn't substitute for a direct referral from another parent IMHO.

Hi,
What info have you gotten so far? We got a birth weight, length and a faxed report in Spanish about her blood tests being negative...I don' t know how much more info others get, but this is what we received...

Same for us

Cathy:

We received exactly the same information. We visited this week and took video for review by an expert. I frankly can't imagine not accepting our little boy now, but I'd at least like to know if anyone sees any warning signs. (He sure appeared healthy and happy to us!!)
