Hello all,
We are planning our third visit to Guatemala the weekend of Feb 14th. We plan on visiting PGN for a fact finding mission. Feb 14th will be 1 year since referral! Thank you to those that answered our previous query regarding visiting PGN. Our debate now is whether it's better for mom to go or should dad go? A friend will be acting as interpreter. He and his wife will be there visiting their 2nd child. Also our attorney has yet to commit to accompanying us. He is unsure at this point if he has time to go. Should we even bother with our attorney? Does anyone know what time PGN opens? Thanks, Brenna's Mom and Dad.... |

I would not take your attorney. Like I've said before, PGN has major issues with the attorneys. I think you will find that you get more answers about your case with out your attorney being present.
If it's possible, can both you and your husband go? I also recommend taking your little one with you. I'm not sure what time PGN opens. We went at 9am and they were open. Good Luck!

Our friends arrived in Giatemala today and are scheduled to visit PGN on Monday at 3 pm. They are going with an interpreter, who I believe they told me has gotten everyone out, over 17 and counting. They are going to bring their daughter and leave the attorney at home. We should know more when they get back on Wednesday. I will post then with their story and if the information on all the outs from this interpreter are true.

We would love to take the little one with us - however, is that possible? We were told when visiting, we could not leave the hotel premises with our daughter (since she is not "legally" ours yet). We thought PGN might frown upon us if we went against this notion. What to do?
Thanks Brenna's Mom and Dad |

I don't recommend going out with your baby...shopping, walking around, etc. And if your agency told you not to leave the hotel, then you should go by what your agency said. However, I know of several people who have taken their baby with them to PGN, including us, with no problems.
It's up to you and what you feel comfortable with.

My husband and I went to visit Elia in Oct for her 1st brithday. When we got there our attorney told us she wanted to take us to PGN to check the status of our case. So we all went including DH, me, Elia, and our attorney. Our attorney went up to the window and said a bunch of things in Spanish which we could not understand. Then me, Elia, and Dh sat in some chairs in the lobby area while our attorney went to the back to speak with the person reviewing our case. We never saw anyone or talked to anyone personally. When our attorney came out she said that we should be back in a month to pick up Eia. We went back for our pick up trip a month to the day later. I would say it all depends on who your attorney is and how comfortable they are in going to PGN. Ours seemed to be very aggressive and I think the helped. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Jenny

Hi
I am visiting next week and am interested in going to PGN, everything is suppose to be done and I'm just waiting. I'm only recently learning that it's possible to visit. Does anyone have any advise on what to do or say when you visit. My Spanish is poor but I generally can get my point across when I need to. Is it important to get an interpreter. Does anyone have recomendations? Thanks! |
