Some of you may be following our story. It's one with quite a few ups and downs. It appears that we are on a down now.

We found out on the 16th that we had to wait until July to begin Maria's adoption. There were problems with her maternal birthgrandmother's birthcertificate, so we have to wait till her birthmom turns 18 to begin the adoption. We were concerned about the laws in Guatemala changing before then and losing the possibilty of ever parenting a baby girl from Guatemala. So our agency offered us Londy's referral. We accepted Londy's referral and are waiting on Maria as well.

The new downward turn for us is that Maria's birthfamily did not like the idea of her having to wait so long. They met with our attorney on Monday and have taken her home with them. Our hearts are broken once again. This is the fourth time this has happened. On Tuesday, though, the birthfamily called our attorney back. Apparently they are going to meet with our attorney again sometime this week. I'm not sure why or what they will discuss. I know what I'm selfishly praying for....

All the uncertainty and ups and downs are killing me inside. I'm not sure how to handle it. I think I should have bought stock in chocolate and Kleenex before beginning the adoption journey!

I'm really sad to read your message. I've followed your threads a bit. This is quite hard!

May the future bring wathever is best for you, for Maria and for her birhtfamily.

We're on our way since 16 months without referral and also have the feeling this is going on forever but there IS a reason to everything. Just don't loose your courage! Something will happen, the way it has to happen.

Kim, After reading your post I felt so very sad for you. My heart was breaking for you. I will be praying that Maria's grandparents make the right choice for her. I will be praying that your share of heartache has ended.
