Ok lets do something fun...

We are working on our 3rd week since our referral and we still don't have our POA, which doesn't really matter I guess, since I am still trying to get all my dossier updated.

So to pass the time lets do something fun. We are bringing home a baby boy, I am completely stumped on the nursery!!! Everytime I start looking at things for a little boy I find just oodles of adorable things for little girls!! Everytime I point something out to my husband his response is "Don't you think that is a little girlish?"

We were going to go with a jungle, safari theme and I don't like really "babyish" things so I found a couple of bedding sets that I really liked but they were almost 400.00!!! I don't want to spend that much especially since I have no idea how old he will be when we finally bring him home. He is only 2 mo. old right now and if things keep going like they are there is a good possibility that he will only be 8-9 mo old.

So, imput wanted...what have you done or are you going to do with your baby rooms? Please share all so we can enjoy and pass the time waiting...which is just killing me!!

Kim

Oh thank goodness - a fun topic!! Well, I already have 3 boys, so I am boy-ed out. We are now adopting a girl. I found my bedding for her on Ebay - it was a discontinued Pottery Barn style and I am very happy with it. For my boys baby room (yes, I will actually have 2 baby rooms at one time, as the #3 and #4 will be 10 months apart!!) I did "The cow jumped over the moon" and it was very non-gender specific because I didn't know if I would be having boys or girls. I love the safari theme BTW....

Also, take heart Kim. It took us 35 days to get the POA registered and I am with a really good agency!! I think that was due partly to the Christmas holidays, but I hope to hear we are in FC soon. Take care,

Boyd Bears

We went with Boyd Bears as the theme of Alle's room. This way it doesn't need to be too 'girly' but yet it has a very soft touch. But I really like "girly" things, infact, her whole closet is "pink". (all of her clothes) Since we have been shopping for Alle since we got her for our referral, we really don't need anything anymore. WE have the crib, car-seat, changing table, and everything else you can think of. This way with Boyd Bears, we thought that is a gift that everyone could buy for our showers'. We have only started the collection of Boyd Bears so we only have 2. Thought we would let everyone else buy those. Because of course there usual response is, "You already have everything, we have nothing left to buy you.".. So now I say, get us a Boyd Bear for the nursery.

Fun huh? lol

Themes...

We are also adopting a baby boy and we went with the Cowboy theme. I also didnot want somrething too babyish and wanted something that could grow with him. Our pattern of cowboy is that of the 50's - ish style. I found this woman on google, she hand made everything very reasonable and I even had her do curtains to match(she'll do anything). pm me if you want any details

dragonflies

Hi there,

We will be adopting 2 boys. The room is painted a light green. I bought stamps at Michaels of different dragonflies and a bunch of blue, green, and purple paint colors to use with them. My Mom refers to them as "the bug stamps" so I don't think she is a big fan. Once I stamp the room, if it looks creepy, then I'll redo it

OOh..

What good ideas! My mom and aunt would love the Boyds Bear idea they have been collecting those for years. I did bears with my daughter 6 years ago and I wanted to go for a different look, but I love the ideas!!

The cow jumped over the moon is actually one I am thinking about, you could do a lot of fun stuff with that I think.

And Cindi, glad you liked the fun idea...we should do more of them!! Thanks for the good cheer, I am still up, just not as up as I was 2 weeks ago!! But we will get there one day at a time!

Keep the ideas rolling...

my friend did her nursery in the jungle theme and it was just adorable. she painted a big tree on one of the walls, had stuffed jungle animals all over and a jungle animal mobile. the room was so adorable. my son's room is going to be red and blue (with thomas the train accessories) so that as he gets older and thomas is no long his thing we will be able to easily change it to sports or space whatever he is into at that time.

We did Liam's room in primary colours on a white backgroung. Each of our friends / family member is a different colour. For people who lived far away we had them do their prints on an art board. For the truly adventurious we have a border of foot printers just above the baseboard. Liam loves to put his hand in each of the handprints and we tell him whose hand it is.

It was soooo much fun to do this!!! And it didn't matter if he was a boy or girl.

I'm doing the bug theme as well. Cute little bugs: yellow caterpillars, lime green dragonflies and purple something or others. I'm not crazy about primary colors. I'm adopting another little boy and my two boys may share a room together at some point, leaving the baby's room as a play room. My oldest LOVES Thomas the Train but the little one may not, so I may keep the rooms separate..........

Awesome ideas for a nursery!

I LOVE the handprints...that is just too, too cool!

We were struggling with the same thing until I talked with my mom last night. We've painted the walls with a Sandstone paint in blue, and we didn't want anything too babyish that he would outgrow. We've decided on white furniture to keep the room light, and amazingly, Martha Stewart has gorgeous baby bedding for reasonable prices. I'm going to do an animal theme with puppies since we're big dog lovers.

The other thing I really liked was Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit. But I was concerned that he'd outgrow it too quickly.

Fun topic!!!

We didn't do our sons room until he came home with us but we did Sports theme because I didn't want it to look like a baby room. So we have Baseball, Soccer, Hockey, Football and Soccer theme.. I am sure he will like one of the Sports!!! So the colors are Navy Blue, Blue Jean Color and Deep Red!!! It looks really cool. We are going to hang up some pictures of the Professional Ball and Hockey Players that have been signed by them!!!

Celestial Fairies!

We've requested a girl, and we're planning on doing a celestial fairy theme. I found a cool rug as my inspiration.

Imagine stars, moons, sun, fairies, in shades of dark blue, yellow, green purple, pink.

I've been requesting bedding samples from all different companies.

Ooops... I hit reply to quickly.

I strongly recommend this book. It's a GREAT resource for all the baby products you need, including all the nursery furniture, bedding companies, etc. It's not just about bargains; they review all manufacturers and rate them, etc.
