My husband and I are adopting twins - a boy and a girl. I am planning to have them in the same room to start and thought I would do a Noah's Ark theme - you know, two by two - male and female.

Blue Jean theme

When I showed my painter the Springs Blue Jean Bear crib set, she painted the walls like faded blue jean, with the tan stitches (like the stitching from a pair of jeans) as a boarder. Since we have bears in the mountain behind our house, she drew a tree with a bear in it. My dh is a GIANTS fan, there is a football (with his name on it) and a Giant's helmet at the foot of the tree.

On our past trip to Guatemala, I picked up a woven tapestry with tassels which I used as his curtain valence. Plus, a few other items from Guatemala to decorate his room. Two of my favorite items being the wooden hand crafted cross and the toy Quatzal, which hangs perfectly from the ceiling to give the impression that the bird is sitting on the branch of the painted tree on the wall.

In his bathroom, we did a under the sea theme. There are painted fish that match the shower curtain (boy is my painter really good!!), a turtle, a whale, a sea horse and a snail. The walls are blue and I had her make a board of white waves so it really looks like you are under the sea.

Rena's Bedroom is garden fairies. My Mom is an artist and painted the fairies in Rena's likeness. She painted her toybox too and it is amazing!

I also did the Noah's Ark theme. The color scheme is tan, navy and burgundy.........not too "babyish". E-bay has some great buys on baby bedding......Good luck!

Winnie the Pooh!

We are adopting a little girl and I have always loved Winnie the Pooh. I asked a friend (who is an awesome painter) to come over and paint a few of the characters on the walls for fun - what we got was soooo much more - it is all four walls - floor to ceiling - Winnie the Pooh and friends - four different murals with clouds on the ceiling - It looks totally amazing - I hope that Abigail likes Winnie the Pooh - cause she is probably gonna have him on her walls till she is 22. LOL!!!!!

Okay Dawn,

Okay Dawn,

You better share some of your "decorating" talent, it is not fair to keep all of that to yourself! You are hired, come to my home okay?

My goodness!!! such talent!!

What a fun thread! And Dawn I absolutley LOVE your baby's room! My husband and I are going to request a baby girl and I was thinking about decorating her room in Beatrix Potter or Winnie the Pooh. I didn't want her to outgrow anything soon, but all the stuff is SO CUTE! What's a Mom (to-be) to do? My dh dreads going to the store with me! hehe

God bless,
Jenny B.

Pooh fan here, too. Mariela's furniture just came yesterday, so I've been making her bed and hanging pictures etc. I have tons of stuffed animals for her to put in the nets you hang on the walls. I tried to pick up more of the pastels in the Winnie the Pooh bedding.

Over the weekend, Mariela's grandma and great-grandma bought her the HUGE FAO Schwartz Patrick the Dog. It is so soft! It is awesome.

All of her "Pooh" babies are tucked in bed waiting for her!

I am hoping to adopt a little girl. I am planning to do an "under the sea" theme. I am going to do a mural on one wall with a mermaid and other cutesy sea creatures.

Talking What fun!!!

You guys are so creative!! I love the hand prints on the wall and Dawn what a great decorating/painting job your painter did!! I love the pictures. I 2nd Ozwald's request for more pictures.

I did find a Noah's ark patchwork set that is really nice, antique colors in red, blue, green and yellow. If I can't locate a resonably priced safari set I might just go with that.

For those of you who bought from ebay...was it used or new? I never thought of looking on e-bay.

We just painted my daughter's room 2 weeks ago, she is 7 but its still really cute. The walls are Jimmy Neutron Vortex Violet (actually much prettier than it sounds!), the trim is all white, I painted flowers, and swirls, hearts and stars in disney style, pink, around her room at chair rail height. She has a small round window on one wall that I "capped" with the same design. Her curtains are long and flowing shears that pool on the floor with purple leaves. Since she only has one window the other one is hung over her bed and falls down over the headboard. Purple disney princess bedding, 3 disney prints framed in white and one beautiful adoption poem framed finish it off. I have an old desk that I have painted pink and now I am distressing it and putting new white and pick flower pulls on it.

See what I mean...I could go on and on about her room and I love to just stand at the door and look at it...I have to come up with something good for Jacob's room

Keep the ideas rolling it is so much fun taking a peek inside everyone's home!!

Decorating the Baby's Room

We are doing our son's room in Frogs. I am still in the planning stages but so far I have bought the bedding. Was able to find the exact $400 bedding "Prince Charming" by Banana Fish for only $200 at BabiesRUs. com (also at the time of order got an extra $10 off). Love the greens and yellows and the frogs will grow with him. I plan to paint the walls a medium tone green and do a boarder of funky harliquin (sp?) with a small frog stencil every so often and cap off boarder with molding. Found great frog stencil's, also called prince charming at naturesvingette.com (they have great fairy stencils). Purchased the extra large frog stencil and plan to do a mural over the crib. Plan to put his initials in the center of the crown on the frog and finish off with some hand painting. I still need to have an electrician in to install an over head light and fan for the room and also having some built in book cases on either side of the window and adding a window seat with pull out storage. I would love to see more pictures, decorating is one of my favorite things to do especially faux paint treatments.

Congrats on bringing home a baby boy. What fun you are going to have when you get to hold him in your arms and teach him everything you know. My husband and I did not know what gender of little angel we were going to get to bring home so we did our nursery in Raggedy Ann and Andy. We painted the walls red on bottom with a blue chair rail and white on top. We found some wall paper stick ups at a craft store and they are on the wall over the crib. They are quite large so we only have one set. We also have the crib sheet set and it came with a quilt and we hung it on the wall. We have hardwood floor so we have a red "fuzzy" rug. It is very cute, and good for either gender. GOOD LUCK!!!!

We painted his room blue and put up an ABC boarder which we hope will help him with letter and item identification. As we are getting him dressed we go over the letters near him. His bed is a truck/car theme and on the floor in the toy area is a blanket/rug which I bought in Guatemala on our first visit. All very bright and colorful.
