Hi,

I asked this yesterday and got no response so I will assume that know one here has any info good or bad on Adoption Source Inc out of Boca Rotan Fl. But I want to be sure.

We have been paper ready for Guat since March of last year but our current agency has yet to give us a referral. When we moved to Fla in April Adoption Source did our update for the homestudy.

I began looking around at some other agencies to see what there turn times were on referrals and everyone I have talked with says its very quick.

I called Adoption Source yesterday to get a feel for there turn time and they called me this morning with a referral!!!!!!

BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO JUST JUMP FROM THE PAN INTO THE FIRE. I have researched one web site and found no complaints against them but surprisingly I did find 1 complaint against my current agency.

If you know of any other sites that I can use to research this agency I would appreciate the info.

Having trouble with the Big List archives - will try again later.

These are the best places I know to look. I have to admit, this seems strange to me. Have you asked how long they have been working in Guat? How many Guat. adoptions they did in the last year? Who is the attorney referring? Maybe you should go after this via the attorney name. Did you check the BBB?

I would also post to the Big List the agency and attorney name and see if you can find anyone.

I will have to wait until I get home tonight to sign up for the Big List but it will be first thing I do when I get home!!

I appreciate your help. With all the problems and the changes I just want to be sure that we are doing the right thing.

They have been doing adoptions in Guat. since 1993 but they admit they do not have a huge Guat program. The specialize in Eastren Europe. However they have a person who facilates Guat adoptions and because they are a small program they can usually get things processed fairly quickly (Not as many people in the program to faclitate!)

I just don't know what to do.

Kim,
Trust me, accepting a referral and thus "finalizing" your agency and attorney is a HUGE decision! This will make or break your experience. Please, take some time and don't feel any pressure. I know how hard it is once you hear that a referral is yours if you will just say "yes" but make sure you are ready to say it!

Still having trouble with Big List archives. Work on finding out the attorney name....

You need an attorney name and the 'facilitator' name. Then you can run a search of the Big List archives. You can also post these names on the Big List and get feedback.

Do NOT accept this referral until you have check these things out. Agencies will 'say' anything if they are desperate to place a baby...so it is up to you to do your homework on this!

We won't accept this referral without trying to get as much info as possible.

I did call my current agency to find out if they were any closer to finding a referral for us and I told them about what happened this morning.

They did call me back and say that maybe by the end of the week they will have something for us.

At this point I'm going to see what info we can find out and do a lot of praying!
