No that is not true. What they do is to get information for you that sometimes your attorney in Guatemala is not willing to give you (for example...where your case really is in the process!). They will also put pressure on your attorney down there to get the job done...they are not going to 'take over' your case...they don't have the ability to do that, as only the attorney with the POA for the child can do it...but they can offer assistance and try to keep you informed of what is going on.

No, that is not true. They basically just oversee and help motivate your attorney. They also can step in and help if there is a problem. I just looked at the website and it has a lot of information on what they can and can't do.

I actually need the number for my friend, not for my case. Thank you for the information.

Becky,
With your knowledge...Can it hurt our case to call the Adoption Supervisors or will it cause bad blood with our agency?

I feel that we are at the mercy of our adoption agency and no matter what we do our case is in their hands and can't proceed unless they do their job no matter how slow..

My reason to ask, is that our agency said it would take 4 weeks to get submitted into the PGN. 4 weeks to have DNA translated and get seal.. Then they stated it would take 9-10 weeks in the PGN... That seems long!!!!!!

What are your thoughts?

Your input much appreciated.

DNA to Guatemala 11-14-03
Agency received I-604 11-21-03 (not sure what this is)
Waiting to Enter PGN

Angel,

At this point in your case you do not need Adoption Supervisors...as it appears your case is proceeding at a reasonable (although not quick) pace.

Adoption Supervisors is really for those who are experiencing significant delays in their case. Those who have been in the process for months and have had nothing done...or who are stuck in one portion of the process for months on end.

I do not think the timelines you were quoted by your agency are outside the 'norm'.

I would not risk upsetting your agency by calling in the 'big guns' just yet!

Good Luck,
