Boston BCIS

I've posted this question on other boards, but I jsut want to get as many responses as I can. Can anyone tell me how long it took them to get fingerprinted and get 171H from Boston BCIS?

Thanks!

Last summer We were handled very quickly, but they didn't accept the fingerprints and we had to go back three times. All in all that fiasco took 4 months

I had my fingerprints done in Boston last October, and had results in less than four weeks.

That sounds a little better. Thanks for the input. Maybe they've cleaned up their act? Or maybe it is random. The waiting kills me. Then after that, there'll be more waiting, so I should get used to it...

fingerprints

Sept 2002 it took us a month. Two weeks to get the appointment and about to weeks to receive the approval. I believe now they are fairly quick. Good luck.

As far as the appointment itself, does anyone remember how long you were at the office? We just got our fingerprint letter and I need to arrange for childcare. I'm hoping it is not like the RMV where you go and sit for hours without even being called...

Thanks again so much!

waiting time

Hi there,

I don't remember what time they open the office, but if you get that info try to be there about one hour early. If you are one of the first you will be out in about 20/30 minutes. As you go in you'll have to fill out a sheet. Do that as fast as you can so you can give it to the person who gives numbers. The number will determine your wait. I believe there are 5 or 6 technicians so if your number is less than 6 you are all set. If you get there when they open you might end up having 50-60 people in front of you. In that case I don't know how long you would have to wait. I hope this help.

Take care, Mbell

Once you've submitted your application to BCIS in Boston, how long before they set up an appt. for you to get your fingerprints. Can you do it in your local police dept.? I'm under the assumption that they set up an appointment for the fingerprints for you and you have to go when they tell you too? I guess I don't understand the process so if anyone has any input, I would really appreciate it.

You can't do it at the police department, the BCIS or CIS or whatever they are calling themselves these days does their own fingerprinting and records check. They will give you an appointment time...or at least a range of times when you can come.

We had ours done that day. As mentioned before on this thread, if you go early, like 7AM you will get a ticket. They don't open until 8. There are several different catergories on the tickets I think A-E and we were B201, 2nd person up but it took a long time before they started B category going. There isn't many working but lots waiting!
We asked if we could have them done that day and we walked down the street and did. It's over by the fleetcenter. So I think if you are there early enough you can get them done that day. Still took us until noon to get everything but worth it.
