What will happen if your childs birthmother is placing another child for adoption
My best friend went to Guatemala in February to get her daughter, when she was down there she found out her birthmother is expecting again in August and would like for them to adopt the baby. She is very worried about the currect situation in Guatemala. Will the CA contact her when the baby is placed for adoption. Was the old way of giving the parents of the sibling first right to the next child the attorney's decision or was it a rule set by PGN? We really hope the CA will contact them. What do you all think?
Thanks, Michelle |

Michelle,
All she can do at this point is ask the attorney and agency to try to keep in touch with the birthmom. There was never any type of rule of offering a second child to the same family...but you do find cases of families who are lucky enough to have a birthmom who specifically asked for the same family to adopt her second child. With the new rules...there is absolutely no way of knowing how the CA will offer referrals. She should just make her wishes known and hope for the best!
