Single Parent Adoption

I was just told by my agency that is "appears" that Guatemala is going to married couple adoptions only.

They are encouraging me to seriously consider another program.

Has anyone else heard from their agency a firm answer?

Thanks!

No!!!

I haven't heard anything yet from my agency, but she said yesterday she is working her contacts to see what is really happening. She feels lots of information out there right now is speculation, so she told me not to get too worked up yet because no one knows for sure. I hope she's right and it is all just speculation!!! Being a "single parent wannabe," I had my heart set on Guatemala and don't know where I would go next.

If we do have to look elsewhere, where would you go?

Angie

Agency

Could you tell me what agency you are using? What about pending single parent cases?

I have read Rudy Rivera's translation and explanation on the Big List. From that, it seems that single parent adoptions are ok. Basically, it says that same sex couples can't adopt the same child.

My agency has not told me I need to consider another country because I am single. Depending on how the new procedures are implemented may determine if I choose another country or not.

I hope this helps a little bit.

My agency said is encouraging me to consider a Russia program they are very involved in right now.

They had told me this was a possibility prior to the recent happenings in Guatemala. So I was somewhat aware but now I am not certain what to do. I am praying aobut and seeking the Lords directions.

Thanks!

I spoke to my agency this morning and asked her about single parent adoptions, since i am a single. She said PGN can change things at this point, but she really does'nt see single parent adoptions being an issue, but she is worried about my referrel since my POA has not been registered before June 30th. I am just praying that i don't lose my baby.

I think we all need to do some praying. I am very frustrated right now and depressed right now, but it's all in God's hands. If I have to change to another progam, so be it, but i will wait this out and see what happens.

Lisa,
Try not to get yourself worked up right now. Wait for final clarification. This situation for eveyone is not over yet, Pre or Post 7/1, or 3/5. No one knows what yesterdays news really meant.
Hang in there and let's see.

Thanks Nella, I always love hearing from you. YOu are always so positive. I usually try to stay positive, but this roller coaster ride of emotions is really getting to me. I know there is a baby out there for me and if i do lose my baby girl then that was God's plan and maybe she was meant to be with another family.

I just have to wait and see what happens. MY agency talked with my attorney this morning about my case and they are trying to get information.

Thanks for your support

Lisa

Lisa,
Hang in there. I think things will work out. Realistically Guatemala cannot afford to take care of the babies. Even if there are changes and delays and more rollercoaster rides it will have to work out in the end.
Believe me I am glad to be back on the rollercaoster with you guys than watching from afar. At least we still have hope.
Here's a joke to make you laugh :
A man walks into a store and asks for a Polish sausage. The man behind the counter asks him"Sir are you Polish " the Polish man gets upset and defends himself asking "Why you wanna know if I am Polish, I just want a sausage, what is your problem".
The man behind the counter says " No problem man, but this is a gas station!!!!"
