I really hope this a sign of good things to come. Trying to stay positive is sometimes difficult. Knowing that there is a child waiting for you is a great feeling but hoping that paperwork & procedures don't delay bringing him home is heart-wrenching!
Just keeping the faith!!!!!

What does processed mean?

Does that mean the cases are out of PGN?

Travel?

Does this mean that another trip to Guatemala is necessary to complete the interview? Does anyone have details of what the interview entails? Has anyone who is post 3/5 gotten through PGN?

The interview is for the birth mother, not adoptive parents.

We are still unclear if we are pre or post 3/5. It looks like our case was registered with PGN March 10. However, we completed our POA in early Feb. and sent it down. I know the guidelines say something about being registered with PGN OR being through the notorial process before 3/5. I am not sure what all that means, but it kind of sounds like we are post 3/5. I spoke with my agency about all of this and they said not to worry about it. They told me that they know of some other agencies who are members of the Joint Council who had post 3/5 cases exit PGN without any problems. This was about a week ago when they told me this. We are currently in PGN and I think we have been there for about a week. I will keep you updated. Good luck to everyone! Jenny

its states "been processed"

they never said "exited" which i thought was common
terminology....maybe im wrong...

bennett,
My agency is part of the Joint Council for adoptions. They told me that they know of some OTHER agencies which have had post 3/5 cases EXIT PGN. I think I am the 1st post 3/5 case with MY agency to enter PGN so we will see. They just said that they know of some other agencies. I know this is hearing something from someone who heard it from someone else so I want to make sure you know that I do not know how factual it is. I trust my agency to tell me the truth and I don't think they would tell me about those other agencies if it was not true. Let's just keep praying that they will keep moving everyone through. I just have to believe they will. Jenny

email I received from Ethica directly

I received this email directly from Ethica....

Hi,

Thanks for your email. It is our understanding that several cases have exited
PGN which were considered, by some, to be post 3/5. As you know, the criteria
for cases "filed" prior to March 5 was somewhat hazy, and clarification was
never received from PGN.

Pursuant to our request of the Department of State, we have been told that the
US Embassy has been encouraging PGN to be "as flexible as possible" with their
definition of a post 3/5 case. At this time, it has been confirmed to us that
several cases have exited PGN. It has also been stated that there doesn't seem
to be a clear pattern yet, which is why we remain very guarded in our optimism.

Also, while the PGN has made statements about birth mother interviews being part
of the new procedures, there have been no other indications what, if any, other
new procedures will be implemented, or when they will officially become new
procedures.

We had received several emails asking why we weren't posting the latest
information. Thus we posted what we know. We have very clearly marked these
comments as reports, and that nothing official has been announced. The reports
were verified to us by parties with direct knowledge.

We are being as clear as possible in a situation where nothing is exactly clear.
Doing the best we can...

Best regards,
Trish mailto:tmaskew@ethicanet.org
