Question HomeStudy/ Income Tax Returns???

We are starting the paperwork towards the journey of international adoption....my head is spinning. I'm gathering documents left and right!

Question: I read we will have to submit copies of our income tax returns for the previous five years during the homestudy process. My husband and I have not been married for five years....will we each have to produce copies of income tax returns for the previous five years or will one person's be enough?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Michele

They will for sure want your returns that have been done together and then I would ask the worker you are working with what they prefer. They are in the end who makes that decision on what they need. Our worker only needed one tax return to verify our income.

I also wanted to say good luck

Most likely they will ask you for tax returns that you filed jointly as well as those tax returns that you filed separately prior to marriage. But the HS agency will tell you for sure.

Five years?!

We only had to provide the last two years tax returns.

WE only had to give last years. Anyway...GOOD LUCK and relax...it's not as hard as it seems. We just finished ours and will be getting approved soon.
