Hi Susan!
Hi there!
Welcome to this forum! I'm sorry for your loss. It is hard when an adoption doesn't happen...my heart goes out to you! That is exciting that your homestudy is almost complete. Have you thought about fost/adopt? It sounds like you live in a great place! We had three biological children before we adopted our daughter...I know that feeling of not feeling complete! I wish you the best! Keep us posted! Take care, sherryk Waiting to adopt Moderator http://www.handinhandfoundation.com

HI Sherrie this is Susie. My husband and i have been foster parents before. We have thought about doing it again. It was in a different state then we live in now. We have been through our states foster parent and compleated them. We did not finish, because my grandmother who was living with us at the time, was and is still suffering from allzhimers. We had to stop because she became violent. The webb address that was on the bottom how did you find out about it. We would like to try, but we live in Maryland and the foster agency is in California. I would like to work with them , if they would concider us . I hope to hear from you . Our e-mail is goodwrench432@cs.com.
Thanks Susie Ryan |

Hi Susan!
The website I give at the end of my post is the agency my husband and I went through to find our daughter and the agency I now work for part-time! Unfortunately, they only work with couples/families in the Northern California area. What type of agency are you working with now? Do they only do birthmother (independent) adoptions? Our agency works more with fost/adopt situations, but does have experience with independent adoptions.
Can you pick up the remainder of classes you need to finish up for the state of Maryland? Maybe a social worker will work with you individually if they know you have completed some of the training. How many children do you have? From what I know, social workers like it when there are children already in the home...experience is good. Keep us posted. It would be good to hear from you! Sincerely, sherryk Waiting to Adopt Moderator http://www.handinhandfoundation.com

hoping to adopt
Hi Sherrie I am soory that I did not respond sooner. We have been os busey. I homeschool the kids and it alone is a full time job. We have three children two girls and one son. DH and I have been looking through the state sites. We have inquired about four sibiling groups. If we went through the state to get foster parent lice. We would have to be foster parents for a year and we are not really wanting to do that right now. We will keep tring, that is if I can keep from pulling my hair out. Hope to talk later.

Hi again Susie!
Wow...you do sound busy with homeschooling your three children and life in general.
In order for you to do fost/adopt, you need to do foster care for one year? In California, the foster parents are required to have the child in the home for 6 months before finalization. But, it usually ends up being longer depending on where the children are in the system. We, in fact, had our daughter for 19 months before the adoption was finalized. Each situation is so different. Keep us posted! We would love to hear how things are going. In a way, it is good you are busy during the waiting time...it makes time fly a little bit faster! Take care, sherryk http://www.handinhandfoundation.com
