Just getting started
First, you need to decide whether to adopt domestically or internationally. Usually international adoptions are quite costly, have multicultural considerations, but allow folks to adopt in a relatively short time. Domestic adoptions can either be done independently (costly) if you are seeking a baby or special needs adoptions which can be free or very inexpensive and which include adoptions of children over the age of 2, minority kids, or children with medical/emotional problems or sibling groups.
Check out some of the following links: http://www.adopting.org/start.html http://www.adoption-assist.com http://www.adopting.org/hstudy.html Find a support group near your home... go to http://www.adopt-usa.org Put in your state and search for adoptive parent groups. To find agencies near your home, go to the same link and put in your state and look for local public agency (special needs) or licensed private agency. Also check agency working with any state at http://www.adopt-usa.org/resources/ResourcesInUSA.html Also, if you do not already belong to our active, online support group for adoption, join at: http://www.surrogacy.com/online_supp...opt/adopt.html
