Just Beginning To Look

We're pretty average; my wife works for a non-profit agency and I work for the state, so we don't have a large incomes, but we do have huge hearts with empty places to fill. I think we're going to look at the state and see what they can do... Not sure where to begin except going thru the Dept. of Children's Services here in TN. What's all involved?? How long does the process take?? And, when it is done, IS IT REALLY FINAL?? (I've heard heartbreaking stories in the last several years where adoptive parents had to return the adopted child back to a parent{s}). Thanks!

Adopted through the state

They did the homestudy while we were going through the classes. We started our class Mar 99, Aug 99 we received a call that we were choosen to be our daughters family. She was placed in our home Sept 8,1999. We finalized the adoption April 5,2000. She was 4 months old when she was placed in our home. In our state they terminate the rights of the father and any person the birthmother names. Also John Doe, so no one can come back and say they didn't know. They put an ad in the paper (I don't know what it looks like)for I guess the father. We have a beautiful little girl that we lover very much. I wish you and your wife the best of luck, there is a child out there waiting!

I have a web page www.adoptme.8m.com please take a look, it is about her adoption and finaliztion.
