Networking with Multiple Agencies/Sources
Hello,
I am a single prospective adoptive parent. I initially thought that I would commit to an agency until a friend who recently adopted forwarded an e-mail from another agency that was looking for home study approved families for an "urgent need" situation. This made me start questioning whether I should tie myself down to one agency or keep my options open. I contacted an independent home study organization and I start my home study next week (with no agency commitment yet). Can anyone give suggestions on how I can network with multiple agencies or sources once my homestudy is complete? Is this even possible? Thanks! |

It is possible to network with more than 1 agency. However, you should NEVER accept 2 situations at the same time as a buffer just in case 1 of the emoms decides to parent. When we were adopting we got an urgent call that a bmom had delivered only to be told her "match" backed out because a second match had delivered a few days before. It was devastating to the bmom. I could not agree to be seen because I was already matched with a baby due several months later.
Also, you should let the agencies know when you have been matched so that they don't show your profile to emoms only to have to tell them you have been matched already. Best wishes on your journey.
