Hi Everyone,
My husband and I are just beginnning our adoption journey and I was wondering if anyone has adopted in Rhode Island and could recommend a private adoption agency. We are hoping to do domestic infant adoption. I am really just trying to get some positive information/experiences about agencies within my state. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Heather |

My husband and I went to our first informational meeting last night with a local agency here in Rhode Island. They only place about 6 babies a year since RI is a very small state. She said most of the agencies in RI place about that many. I honestly not sure if that is a good or bad number. She said they have about 10-12 prospective parent portofolios. I guess the thing I am confused about is that she mentioned people send there books to bigger agencies in other states that have more infants to adopt. How do you know what agencies in other states to use? We also have Lutheran Family Services, Catholic Charities, and Bethany Christian Services that are licensed in the state of RI, so I am going to look into them as well. They seem to service all of New England so maybe the pool of perspective infants to adopt is bigger?? If anyone has personal experience or information about any other these organizations please email me through this site.
Thanks, Heather |
