We recently started the whole process and the home visit is done and we're down to compiling paperwork.
It is really, really thrilling isn't it? I didn't feel like anyone understood how thrilling until I posted on here. |

How did your homevisit go? I got an email from my social worker today. Tomorrow I am sending away for my fire safety inspection trying to find out where to go to get the sanitary inspection done and going to get fingerprinted.

The home visit itself was very uneventful. Mostly, we sat and went over paperwork and figured out the next steps at the dining room table. When that was all done we walked through the house.
Our SW barely walked into each room and the only question she asked was which of the spare rooms would be the child's room. I explained how we were going to redecorate one of the rooms and she said "That sounds nice!". Then she left. Much easier than I expected. I almost expected her to bring out a tape measure to ensure the banister bars were close enough and stuff like that! |

I just finished my homestudy last month and I should have my report this week. I thought she was going to wipe out the tape measure also but she didn't. It went nice.

How exciting for you. I never thought I would get so excited about paperwork either.
Do you like the book? It's on my list of reads and I want to get it soon.

Well I am still waiting for my homestudy to be approved. I have to take a parenting class tomorrow and that should be the only thing pending. But I am so worried about the money. I guess I should have had the money saved before starting the process but of course I didn't. All the other times the thought of money made me halt the process altogether, so this time I didnt allow myself to even think about it.

CONGRATS! My only suggestion is to contact your state office to find out what clearances you need, and not to take just the word of your agency. My husband and I (who adopted our daughter on Christmas Morning) were not told we needed a certain clearance (in addition to the 3 we got) and ended up not being allowed in our state for an additional week after NY released us. The agency said they were not aware of the recent law that changed.
Good luck with everything. The bio piece was amazing. We've been together 12 years and found out things we never knew about each other. Also, creating your adoption portfolio can be very fun. We were selected after it being reviewed by the very first bioparents that viewed it. We had an amazing designer that work wonders. I'd highly recommend him! His inofmration can be found on our adoption blog - It's Daddies. Plural. Again, best of luck! Paul @ It's Daddies. Plural. |

Hahahha. I rememeber cleaning for days - and that was after we had a service come in. It was the cleanest this house ever was - and the same thing. Barely looked anywhere. I wanted to say "look under the beds... no dust bunnies!!!".

I just started the home study process as well. We have our interview with the worker next week and all of our initial paperwork is completed. Our worker said it'll be another 2-3 months before the home study is complete. Ugh, too much waiting!
