Hello, we adopted a wonderful little girl last year through Guatemala and we're hoping that she can have a brother or sister soon! I thought I was a pro, but I'm finding I'm VERY ignorant with the types of domestic adoption available and what is involved. All I seem to find is information regarding an infant through an agency.

Does anyone have any experience with adopting a 1-2 year old toddler (either privately or through an agency). Is this only common through Foster Care?

ANY info would be helpful as we start this daunting yet exciting process again

We adopted a toddler (20 months old at the time) and her infant brother (3.5 months old at the time) through agency adoption. When we were first starting the process, we were told that something like 95-98% of domestic adoptions were of newborns. Nevertheless, we (obviously) heard about this situation and one involving a 7 month old while we were waiting.

We went through an agency that operated more like a facilitator, so they had contacts with other agencies across the country.
