Question Do you need to pick domestic or international?

We are just starting the process and just starting to review agencies (we are in NJ) and I'm wondering if you can apply for both domestic and international adoption at the same time? I see there are pros and cons of both and frankly I change my mind daily on my preference.

In addition, if anyone has any recommendations of agencies I'd love to hear them.

thanks

I am not sure if you could pursue both at once. I do know that there are different requirements for international and domestic, and there are differences in the requirements for each international country. I would suggest that you try to attend an informational meeting provided by an agency in your area. You will gain information on all of their programs.

best of luck!

My understanding is that you CAN do both domestic and international at the same time and that there are agencies (I forget which ones) that will help you pursue both at the same time. You would still need to pick which country for the international. Also, from my experience and understanding, doing both at the same time is quite expensive, as you have to pass the requirements for both processes. I would think it would also be quite time consuming and involve lots of intense paperwork. The processes are quite different than each other .. I thought we wanted to do both until I found out more about the countries we were interested in, and so we chose domestic.
