Profile Books/ Dear Birthparent letters

I feel like I'm missing something, but these two things seem rather redundant. Is the Dear Birthparent letter separate, or like the first page of the profile book? I really need to get started on it, I think our homestudy should be done in a few weeks! Just read in another thread that some people were being shown before their homestudy was even done, wow!

Usually the dear birthmom letter is the first page of the book. (And just a suggestion, some people prefer to use other terminology like Dear Expectant parents.)

Our boo started with a family picture and our name. The next page was the dear e-parent letter. In this we did the majority of the talking about us. Jobs, hobbies, edcuation, etc. Then there were several pages of pictures with short captions.

Your agency should be able to give you more guidance as to what they would like to see. Some only want a few pages, some want a dozen or more.

Good luck!

Like the PP said, each agency has their own ideas and guidelines so you may want to follow up with them. Our profile started with our 2-page dear expecting parent letter and was followed by categories about DH, me, our home, our family, and our hobbies with pics in each category. All in all, it was about 20pages. We also had a separate dear expecting parent for our own marketing.

Good Luck!

I JUST finished our profile, and the letter was the first two-page spread in the book (ordered through snapfish)

because I had 20 pages to fill we had it broken down like this:

letter-2 pages
about me/about dh-2 pages
our marriage/life before kids-2 pages
about dd/about ds-2 pages
our home-2 pages
pets/holidays and special traditions-2 pages
extended family/friends-2 pages
travel-2 pages
random photos of us and kids-2 pages

the first and last page was just a fun family photo of us.

hth!

20 pages... WOW I had no idea!

We are just FINALLY getting out of the research stage and submitting our application this week! So I am not really that far yet. I guess I better start collecting my pics and documenting our life story. It sounds like a term paper... yeesh!! Somehow I bet it is a lot more fun though. I am actually really excited to put it together. It seems a lot more thrilling than fingerprints and bank statements no??

Good-luck guys!

Gina
