Our Parent Profile

Well I went out and bought Hallmark Scrapbook software, but I don't think that is exactly what I need for my parent profile, does anyone have any advice? I just am drawing a HUGE blank when trying to put this together, the ones I see online all have nice backrounds and look so good...

Anyone else having these issues?

I suggest that you look at one of the online websites like Picaboo (which we used), Shutterfly, or others. There are many examples on the sites that you can look through. The books come out great, and you choose the backgrounds, layouts etc online. You can drag your photos (after uploading them) into the positions on the page that you want, and there are spaces to write in text. The profile comes in paperback or hardback (woven linen or leather). It's not cheap, but ours came out so well, we'd do it again in a heartbeat. And our bmom told us that our profile stood out to her initially because of the layout.

Hope that helps.

bound books

I actually spent most of yesterday putting together a book on Shutterfly! when we met with our SW last week she showed me some of the profiles that are currently in the pool (our "competition" if you will). She showed me ones that were homemade printous slid into report covers, and then one bound book from shutterfly. What a difference! I hate to think of it as marleting - but it really is, and I am afraid that we all need any advantage we can get! It wasn't hard to do, either - and at around $30 a pop, it isn't cost prohibitive. Not to mention the convenience of doing it from home and having it sent, instead of having to run around town buying supplies!

If you want to take a look at mine, please PM me. I would welcome any feedback!

Thanks!
Courtney

I used Scrapbook Factory Deluxe. I'll pm you a few samples from our profile. Since we are using a facilitator that askes for 50 profiles at a time, some of the online books would be cost prohibitive. But, I took our file to Kinkos and printed out color copies that turned out really good (at 300 dpi). It was .49 copy and the profile was 8 pages.

Question

Our agency want to proof read ours before we actually make them up. They only want six. Is there a way you can print out the profile from Shutterfly or Picaboo so I don't pay for one and then find out I need to add or remove things or switch things around?

You could do screen grabs/save PDFs of each page and print them out, or you could email her the link to preview it. Ours didn't want to preview it, and she only wants 3 copies. I was planning on getting one first to proof myself, but I am thinking I might just order all three at once. I am ready to get going!
