Problems getting info from agencies!!
Has anyone else encountered this problem? We have requested information from at least 10 agencies and only received info from about 3. Some of them say that they have no info to send out!! I feel more confident reading about agencies on a hard copy than just trusting their website (which could be illegit). We are very overwhelmed with making the right agency decision but the ones I was really hoping to hear from say that I just have to call and talk to them. The problem with that is that they all start to sound the same after a while. Help!!!

No help here but, I too, would want somethingto read. I do better that way. Maybe they just aren't the right agency for you if they have no info to send out?

I just crossed those types of agencies off our list.
Then once we reviewed all the info, we went to the free informational sessions offered by some. Then we narrowed down that list to the ones we felt comfortable with and could meet their requirements and they could meet ours. A follow up call wouldn't hurt. A worker could have simply forgotten to send something out, or it might have gotten lost in the mail! If you placed a request by email/internet, and it has been over 4 weeks, I would definitely call and talk to a person about it to put in a 2nd request...

I too have found this. The first time we adopted we had no problem but I have emailed a few professionals this time and heard from NONE of them! They will certainly not be ones we communicate with.

Funny, seemed like when we were searching, there were a lot of agencies that wanted to send info, but didn't want to talk to us! I didn't like that, either. A balance would be nice, yes?

I found this to be true too...especially if I request online. I think it is best to personally call them.
And I do agree that if you call them and they can't send out information, then they aren't worth your time (or money). Of course the info could get lost in the mail, so a follow up call is ok. But if they can't return your phone calls (that is what I am finding), then they are being crossed of my list. You are not alone with this one!

I ran into this also. They were crossed off my list. I also found, some agencies that I talked to said one thing and then when I got there paperwork/information it said something totally different! And I also got the ones that said they would send info, and when I got it, it was a simple little brochure that gave very vague info--basically no more than what had been listed in the phone book. They too were crossed off our list.
We knew when we talked to the place we are using, that they were the ones. When we got their information, we definetly knew. In fact, their contract was better than we thought! Do your homework, trust your gut feelings! |
