Homestudy question
For the financial portion of the homestudy, do I need to get a credit report or how do they gather that information?
I'm prepping to start a homestudy in the next couple of months and wanted to know what they will likely be looking for besides the basics of what I earn and my savings and mortgage. Thanks |

We had a form we had to fill out stating our income and debt. We also had to have an employment verification filled out by our employers. That was it. no credit report for us. I would ask who ever is doing your homestudy. I have found that while there are many similarities everyone seems to do things in their own way. Timbo

I believe you are in Ohio as I remember some of your previous posts. Most private agencies doing domestic homestudies will have you complete the ODJFS financial form. They will also ask for a copy of your most recent income tax return and a letter from your employer.

hs financial prep
For us, we had to give the agency a copy of our bank statement from the end of last year and our bank statements from the past two months. We also had to give them a copy of our last three tax statements and get a letter from our employers stating how much we made, how long we worked there and whether it was full time or seasonal etc. They had us fill out another form, much like a budget that showed all our monthly expenses and how these compared with our monthly income. They also had us fill out a table that listed all our assets from property owned(house, cars, etc), money in the bank to any money that could be taken out of our life ins. policies. We also needed to give them a statement from our house mortgage and a copy of our deed. As for a credit report, they will probably do that themselves if they want one since they have your ssn etc and make you sign all sorts of disclaimers allowing them to get private info from anywhere under the moon. The paper chase is really crazy, but once you get started at least you can feel like you are accomplishing something with every little step.
Good luck, Cindy |

The private agency we adopted through (in Indiana) only had us provide a tax statement and pay stub. I think we wrote down the name of our bank, but didn't have to provide account info or balance info.

I just PM'd you on the post about ACW agency.
Our experience with them on this issue was very similar to the tax returns, employer reference w/salary confirm and income/budget statement. |

Does anyone know of a Licensed Certified Social Worker in the state of Tennessee who can provide home studies?
